BPW Quality School, Azam Town

Dr. Salima R. Ahmed and the members of the Federation are very proud of this school.  100% of the first batch of class 9 & 10 passed with B grade

Mrs. Noori Berdi is a major supporter & donor of this school. The Federation, Ms. Tayyeba Roohi Zafar and Mrs. Nasreen Mahdi were also major donors.

Prize Distribution ceremony was held at the school premises during the 2 years
Shields were given to the position holders and cash awards to brilliant students. Certificates and cash prizes were also given to the best teachers.

Computer classes are conducted for all the classes. Ms. Azra Azhar donated 02 UPS
On August 14, Pakistan flag hoisting ceremony was held at the school premises.
Fire extinguishers have been provided to the school. A school van is required to take our students to the nearby playground.

BPW Quality School students went for an outing to the PAF Museum & Jinnah Park.
In February 2009, the Mayfair Company distributed sweets among the students. In October 2009, a lecture on Hygiene was delivered by the reps of Safeguard.

Band of BPW Quality School

We have an excellent band at the school. During the two years it has played at various functions, of the Federation and also in other events.  The band Master was given a shield for his good work and dedication.

II.       Adopted schools
a)       Government Secondary School - Pak Jamhoria Colony, Karachi 

Project Officer Mr. Younus and Mrs. Nuzhat Ikramullah supervise and manage this school. The Federation & Mrs. Nuzhat Ikramullah are the major financial supporters

b)      BPW Hyderabad   

Loan of Rs. 405000/- was given to the Hyderabad Branch
for construction of their hostel.

  1. Working Women Hostel is operating smoothly with full occupancy.


IV.       Industrial training center  

Training in cutting and sewing is given to girls/women living in Azam Town and surrounding area. There are around 30 students. The Federation gave a loan of Rs.45000/- to pay off rental and salaries of the staff. Mehndi class has also been initiated.

  1. BPW Medical Clinic is running smoothly and providing medical facility / medicines free of cost to all the students. The students are also being trained for first aid.


  1. Computer Center Opened in Azam town was not feasible– thus was closed. The computers were given to BPW Quality School.
  1. BPW Micro Credit (Humdum Project)  Started functioning as of May 2008.  Four

loans were given to be returned in monthly installments. Mrs. Berdi donated Rs.70000/-. Ms Akram Khatoon and Mrs. Berdi donated for the marriage of a girl.

  1. BPW Industrial Home Opened in May 2009 at the BPW Hostel premises, but was

not successful and was closed after 6 months. Most items produced have been sold.



Hazrat Khadija Tul Kubra conference March 30  

was held at the Pearl Continental Hotel, Karachi. Gold Medals were awarded to Ms.Qudsia Qadri, Ms. Farqunda Ahmed, Dr. Shamshad, Begum Rahimuddin.  Shields were given to active members of the Federation.

Eid Gifts Distribution Ceremony, September 20 

Clothes and rations were given to around 300 households of students of BPW Quality School. Main donors were Mr. & Mrs. Behram Ahmed, Mrs. ND Khan, Mr. Majid, Executive and other members of BPWO.

BPW International Conference, October 24 – 28

 held in Mexico City. Attendees of the conference were, Dr. Salima R. Ahmed, along with executive and other members.


Book Launching Ceremony, January 17 

 “Rang Mahal”, a book written by Ms. Tayyeba R.
Zafar was launched at the Federation Complex. Mr. Siddiqui, Minister for Industries was the
chief guest.

Seminar on February 2 

Dr. Salima  Ahmed presided over a seminar organized by the Federation. The topic was “Why should we give our vote to your party”. Representatives of the parties were Mr. Raza Rabbani (PPP), Mr. Raza Haroon (MQM), Mr. Tanveer Khalid (PMLQ), and Mr. Hafizuddin (PMLN). Panelists were Ms. Shazia Marri & Ms. Shaheen Salahuddin. Parties presented their Manifestos followed by heated discussions.

Ration/Eidi Distribution in Ramzan Rations

and cash were collected by the members and given to parents of 600 students of BPW School, the students of the Industrial home, the Computer centre and to the lower staff of the Adopted School Pak Jamhoria Colony. Eidi was given to the staff of BPW School, contributed by Ms. Farhat Agha.
Dr. Salima R. Ahmed, some Executive members & the Project officer went to Hyderabad to distribute rations among the adopted school staff.
